86-year old pioneered English journalism in JK

Srinagar, Nov 6 (KNS): Veteran journalist Ved Bhasin died late Thursday at his Jammu residence after prolonged illness. Known as the pioneer of English journalism in Jammu and Kashmir, Bhasin served media industry for over six decades.
The 86-year-old Bhasin was suffering from a degenerative brain disease for the last several months, family sources said.
He was born in Srinagar and had schooling in Jammu. He did his post graduation before 1947 from the Punjab University (Lahore).Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Bhasin was the editor of daily 'Kashmir Times' from 1964 to 2000.
Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah wrote on micro blogging site Twitter about Bhasin: “He was passionate about India Pakistan ties, often sailing against the prevailing winds. Over the years, he mentored many young journalists. Heartfelt condolences to the family of Ved Bhasin Sahib. Also to those at Kashmir Times. Bhasin Sb remained true to his beliefs to the end.” (KNS)
