Srinagar, Jan 22 (KNS): Kashmir Valley Transporters Welfare Association has called for 72 hours strike from 22 Jan, against the unjustifiable government orders and increase in taxes.
In a meeting held today here in Srinagar under the leadership of Ab Qayoom Wani, the public transport operators have called for a 72-hour-long strike from Monday to press for a rollback of unjustifiable orders issued by the government.
In a statement issued to KNS, in which they said that the strike is given to push for their various demands including withdrawal of yearly passenger welfare fund and rollback of hike in fitness fees and fees for other renewal of vehicle documents.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They said the transport community is in poor situation and the government is rubbing salt into our wounds by issuing unjust orders rather than helping us.
“The government decision to hike fitness fees and other tool taxes is total unjustifiable. This sector is economically in losses.”
The statement readout that if government failed to meet their demands, the strike called by them would be extended for an indefinite period till the government accepts their genuine demands. (KNS)
