Srinagar, Sep 13: (KNS) Senior vice president People’s Conference (PC) and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today expressed his deep concern over the termination of 918 helpers to supervisors in Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme of Social Welfare Department by the authorities.

Addressing the meeting of party workers in Srinagar, Vakil said that on one hand, the government is claiming employment opportunities for youth while on another side they are disengaging their ICDS helpers, which is very unfortunate and surprising. Vakil condemned the move and termed it as anti people policy by the LG led administration.
“The terminated ICDS helpers should be reinstated  in the department, so that their families will not suffer and have a sigh of relief,” he said.

Vakil also expressed concern about youth who were engaged in Rehbar-e-Khel, Vakil said they are exploited and are being paid peanuts by the authorities. The highly educated and qualified youth are only getting only 100 rupees as daily wages which is a shame for the government.  Pulling of life on such meager wages is incomprehensible and is mere injustice.  These appointees deserve all the compassion and care, especially for the role they were playing towards the growth of the younger generation. Vakil demanded regularizing their services and should be placed in the same mode as that of Physical Education Teachers.

“They should be paid handsome salaries, so that their families will not suffer anymore. Youth are our future and the government should take care of their minimum needs,” he said.

The senior leader also welcomed newly party members into the PC including Block Development Chairman, Block Kangwasa Rafiabad Chairman Ghulam Mohammad Mir, Apni Party’s senior leader Tasleema Jan, Social and Political worker from Kandi Rafiabad Tariq Ahmad Khan and senior leader of National Conference Khurhid Ahmad.

“I hope the new faces from north Kashmir will make the party cadre strong in the area. They will act as bridges between people and government,” he said.

Vakil said in future not only in Rafiabad area but entire Jammu and Kashmir under the dynamic leadership of Sajad Gani Lone will win the hearts of people and form upcoming government in the region.

He also expressed his grief over the killing of five family members of a nomad family after a massive cloudburst hit their shed at Kafarnar Bahak Rafiabad area on Sunday. Vakil conveyed their deep sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for their eternal peace.(KNS)
