Reasi, Sept 17 (KNS): The pilgrimage to the holy Mata Vaishno Devi shrine resumed on Wednesday, 22 days after a massive landslide in Reasi district claimed 34 lives and injured 20.
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) allowed the yatra to restart at 6 am after repair and safety checks on the affected tracks. The decision brought relief to thousands of devotees waiting in Katra, who began the uphill trek with chants of “Jai Mata Di”.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Shrine officials said RFID-based tracking will remain mandatory for all pilgrims, along with strict adherence to safety protocols. Contingency teams and medical facilities have been deployed along the route.
Local traders and pony operators, hit hard by the suspension, welcomed the reopening, calling it a revival of faith and livelihoods. The shrine, located at 5,200 feet in the Trikuta hills, attracts millions of pilgrims every year.(KNS)
