UT Govt must address unemployment problems as same is touching new heights in JK: Vakil

Rafiabad Feb 27 (KNS) : Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference Sr. Vice President and Former Minister, Abdul Gani Vakil, today said that the bureaucratic system forced upon the people of J&K has failed at every front and is expert at creating problems rather than solving them. He described unemployment as a burning problem touching new heights; not only this, apple sector is in losses; developmental work is in name only and the ruling dispensation is restricted to press statements making lofty claims while on the ground, the situation is pathetic; there is no sense of security; innocent people are being killed and people at large feel unsafe. GoI must end the prevalent bureaucratic Raj and allow the popular government to be elected without delay.

Vakil toured today several villages of Rafiabad and  Sopore   addressed the workers  especially in Janwari, Nathipora, Ladura, Dangiwacha and Shercolony.

While addressing the meetings, Vakil asserted that the promises and claims made by the UT  Government which included jobs for thousands of educated youth have not yielded any results so far and today the situation is such that the unemployment rate of J&K is at record high of 33 percent  which proves the fact that the claims made by Union Territory Government for the unemployed youth have proved to be a damp squib, thereby resulting in further pushing of the youth to the wall.

He also expressed concerned over the issue of corruption and said that it has reached its peak in J&K which has been clear by the recruitment policy of the government which lacks both credibility and transparency. The recent recruitment processes have come under scanner leaving the aspiring applicants hopeless.

Vakil also criticized the UT government for not taking serious measures to curb drug mafia in J&K and it's unfortunate that a large percentage of youth is involved in drug addiction. Though, tall claims are made to throttle the menace it is all but white lies.

During the tour, Vakil was accompanied by senior leaders of PC which included Ghulam Nabi Dar, Fayaz Ahmed Nayko, Mohammad Muzzafar, Ghulam Nabi Vijbali and Mohammad Rajab Dar.(KNS)
