US-based 'Kashmir NRI Today' launches 'Kids Corner' for young Indian diaspora

New Delhi, May 22 (KNS): KASHMIR NRI TODAY, an American-based international affairs magazine, has announced the launch of a special youth section, ‘Kids Corner’, aimed at providing a global platform to children and teens of Indian origin.

The initiative, modelled on a legacy feature erstwhile published in the Asia Observer newspaper, will be helmed by 12-year-old Aarna Kumar, a seventh-grade student from Miami, as the Founding Young Editor.

According to an official statement from the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Surinder Zutshi, the section is open to participants aged 5-18 years. “Every child has a story, a voice, and a talent that deserves to shine,” the publication said.

The ‘Kids Corner’ will accept submissions of drawings, paintings, poems, short stories, essays, travel tales, festival write-ups, quizzes, and riddles. Selected entries will be published in the magazine, with outstanding contributors receiving certificates and recognition.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

A ‘Young Star of the Month’ feature and a Junior Editorial Board are also part of the outreach, officials confirmed.

Ms. Kumar, the young editor, is a student at Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in Miami and serves as Editor of the Photography and Arts section for her school’s award-winning literary magazine, The Lumina.

The initiative traces its lineage to Neil Zutshi, son of the Editor-in-Chief, who had edited a similar kids’ section at age nine in the now-defunct Asia Observer weekly.

Parents have been encouraged by the magazine to help children explore creativity and connect with their cultural roots. “This platform will help them grow, learn, and be recognised on a global stage,” the release added.

Submissions for the section are accepted year-round via email at kidscorner@kashmirnritoday.com. A QR code has also been provided for digital access, the magazine said. (KNS)
