Bandipora, Aug 10 (KNS): The seven-day annual Urs of revered Sufi saint Hazrat Syed Ghulam Rasool Shah (RA), popularly known as Nanga Baji Sahib (RA), concluded at Malangam in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday, with thousands of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir participating in prayers, religious observances and spiritual gatherings.

The concluding day was marked by a large congregation of devotees at the revered shrine, where special prayers and recitation of the Holy Quran took place. Prayers were offered for peace, prosperity, brotherhood and tranquillity in Jammu and Kashmir and across the country.

As part of the concluding ceremony, the traditional religious flag was hoisted at the shrine, while a special Chadder was laid on the tomb of the revered Sufi saint amid prayers and devotional fervour.

The annual Urs, which has been celebrated continuously for the past 69 years, holds deep religious and spiritual significance for devotees and has emerged as one of the prominent Sufi gatherings in the Bandipora region.

The Urs was traditionally organised by Syed Zamin Shah, father of Syed Wilayat Hussain Shah, who carried forward the long-standing spiritual tradition associated with Hazrat Nanga Baji Sahib (RA). Following his legacy, Syed Wilayat Hussain Shah has been organising the annual Urs for the past 17 years, further strengthening the tradition and keeping the spiritual legacy alive for successive generations.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Throughout the seven-day gathering, devotees from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir visited Malangam to pay obeisance, offer prayers and seek spiritual blessings at the revered shrine.

A free Langar (community kitchen) was also organised for devotees and visitors during the Urs. The community kitchen served meals to thousands of pilgrims and reflects the long-standing tradition of service and hospitality associated with the shrine. The Langar, according to the organisers, continues throughout the year.

The gathering also served as a reflection of Kashmir’s rich Sufi heritage, which has historically emphasised compassion, tolerance, brotherhood, peaceful coexistence and service to humanity.

Devotees participated in the religious proceedings in an atmosphere of faith, devotion and harmony, while prayers were offered for the well-being of the people, peace in the region and prosperity across Jammu and Kashmir.

The organisers expressed gratitude to the devotees, volunteers and all those who contributed to the peaceful and smooth conduct of the annual Urs.

With the conclusion of the seven-day programme, Malangam once again witnessed the culmination of a decades-old spiritual tradition that continues to attract thousands of devotees and preserve the region’s rich Sufi legacy. (KNS)
