Jammu, Feb 18 (KNS) ; National Conference leader Tanvir Sadiq on Wednesday took a swipe at Rajya Sabha member Ghulam Ali Khatana, questioning his demand for official accommodation in Jammu and Kashmir while allegedly utilising his MP funds for projects in Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing reporters outside assembly, the NC chief spokesperson as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) alleged that the BJP MP, who is a nominated member of the Upper House of Parliament, does not merit residential facilities in the Union Territory.
"Even if he has applied, he should not be given accommodation here. He should seek accommodation from the Uttar Pradesh government," Sadiq said.
The MLA from Zadibal claimed that among the nine nominated MPs in the Rajya Sabha, Khatana was the only one diverting funds from the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) to a state outside J&K.

"The fact is that he lives here, his family lives here, but when it comes to allocating funds, he spends them in Uttar Pradesh. If that is the case, why apply for accommodation in J&K?" he questioned.
Sadiq further asserted that Khatana was nominated to the Rajya Sabha specifically to represent the tribal, Gujjar, and other marginalised communities of Jammu and Kashmir.
"In a state like Uttar Pradesh, which already has 90 MPs, he is spending funds there, while in J&K where the need is greater, he has not utilised them," the NC leader added. (KNS)
