 Srinagar, June 24 (KNS): Union Minister of State for Culture, Meenakshi Lekhi, on Saturday said that the frontier Kupwara district in north Kashmir has a huge potential for tourism but has remained unexplored.

"I believe that the frontier Kupwara district in north Kashmir holds immense tourism potential that remains unexplored," she said while speaking exclusively to Kashmir News Service (KNS).

She said that it is crucial to explore the Kupwara district from all angles to unlock its potential for generating employment opportunities for the local community.

“The vast tourism potential of Kashmir, including its border areas, highlighting the transformative impact it can have on the region's economy, she added.

She also said that Kupwara has potential for tourism activities in terms of border tourism and aspiration district.

During her surprise visit to Kupwara, she was accompanied by deputy commissioner Kupwara Ayushi Sudan. (KNS)
