Baramulla, Sept 18 (KNS): To reinvigorate the spirit of sports in local youth of Kashmir and to provide them a platform to showcase their talent and skills, the Dagger Gunners on Sunday organised organised Boniyar Mini Marathon under Operation Sadbhavna.
The event was conducted under three categories which included a run of 2.4 Km for Girls, 5 Km and 10 Km run open for all participants. The run under three categories were flagged off by Junaid Wali, SDPO Uri, Ajay Mathur, General Manager NHPC, Mir Mustaq BJP President, Baramulla, Bilal Ashiq Mir, BDC, Boniyar and Mohd Ashraf, SHO Boniyar.
The Mini Marathon saw wholehearted participation of youth from far off places with full of energy and enthusiasm.
"There were a total of 215 Boys and 28 girls who put in their best feet forward to make this event a great success", an official said. He also said that all participants were given participation medals, T-Shirts and refreshments to acknowledge their efforts.
The official added that prize distribution ceremony involved cash prizes, medals and certificates to top three finishers in each category were awarded by present civil dignitaries.
The event was applauded by local civil administration officials who praised the efforts of Army in providing a platform to youth and channelising their efforts to build up a strong, healthy and vibrant society.
The event culminated with a clarion call by all stakeholders to organize such events in future too.(KNS)
