UN’s 70th general assembly session: Shah urges world leadership to resolve Kashmir Issue

Srinagar, Sep 28 (KNS): Urging the world leaders to push for resolution of the Kashmir dispute during the ongoing session of the United Nations, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah asserted that if soulution to the issue is not found, the possibility of a “big tragedy” due to rivalry between two nuclear neighboring nations of the subcontinent “will be impossible to avert”.
“If the long-pending dispute of Kashmir is not resolved through implementation of the UN resolutions, there is every possibility of emergence of any ‘big tragedy’ in the subcontinent due to unending rivalry between the two nulcear neigboring nations – India and Pakistan,” Shah, who continues to be under house arrest, in a statement issued to press on Monday said.
According to a statement issued to KNS, he expressed hope that Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharrif in his address will stress on resolution of Kashmir issue as per implementation of UN resolutions and persuade world leadership to exert pressure of India in this regard. He also urged Pakistan Premier to “expose India’s hollow claims of religious tolerance before the world community”.
“The United Nations, United States, OIC and European Parliament are duty bound to take a first hand account of the situation in occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir. They must see how an imperilaistic power like India has turned the paradise into hell, with the might of 7 lakh forces,” Shah stressed.
The Freedom Party chairman further said, “It’s imperative upon the representatives of the United Nations to take cognizance of killing of more than half a million people in Jammu and Kashmir and unabated human rights violations committed by Indian occupational forces and its agencies since last 68 years.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe UN members should stand up for justice and fulfill thier responsibilities by stressing India to shun the stubborn appraoch and resolve the issue by implementing the 18 resolutions of the same institution as it’s the fate concerning 13 million populace who are yearning for peace and freedom.”
Shah said the lingering of Kashmir dispute will only lead to instability and destruction in the whole region as “it’s the contentious issue between nuclear armed nations.
“The ‘Global Economy’ of which the world is talking nowadays is impossible without political stability and improving the human life standard which implies respect for human life, in first instance. If UN can interfere and resolve other world issues what prevents it from playing role with regard to Kashmir dispute,” Shabir Ahmad Shah said.
Meanwhile, the party spokesperson in a statement vehemently criticized the state administration over “arrests of youths, party members and undue restrcitions on activities of pro-freedom leadership”.
Terming the continuous house arrest of party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah as “autocratic”, the spokesperson said the government has accepted defeat before the resistance leadership and that there is Marshal Law prevailing in the state.
“Since his release from jail in 2011, the total detention period of Shabir Ahmad Shah has reached 25 months and three days including 163Friday and 9 Eid prayers,” the spokesperson added. (KNS)
