Voting for second phase begins amid tight security

Srinagar, Oct 10 (KNS): As the second phase of ULB polls began in the wee hours of this morning, a complete is being observed in the poll bound areas today to protest against the conduct of polls.
The shutdown call was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.
All the shops, business establishments are closed while as the traffic is also off the roads.
The railyway authorities also suspended the train services from Baramulla-Banihal as 'security reasons'.
The mobile internet speed has also been reduced to 2g.
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), J&K, Shaleen Kabra had said that in the 2nd Phase of Municipal Polls-2018 voting will take place at 544 polling stations across the State tomorrow on 10 October 2018.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe polling time, he said will be from 6.00 am to 4.00 pm.
He said 270 polling stations have been designated for voting in Kashmir Division and 274 in Jammu Division.
The CEO said 1029 candidates are in the fray for 263 Municipal Wards including 49 in Kashmir and 214 in Jammu, going to polls in Phase-II. He said 881 candidates are in the fray in Jammu division and 148 in Kashmir division for Phase-II.
The voting for the second phase began at 6 am here amid tight security arrangements. (KNS)
