Srinagar, Apr 09 (KNS): As the Chief Minster Mehbooba Mufti passed clear cut directives to ministers and officers for exhibiting ‘good conduct’ while dealing with public, the revelations of many bureaucrats using ‘objectionable’ language for public and their subordinate officers has upset many. Sources said that many bureaucrats including a top bureaucrat from Kashmir Province have been habitual of insulting and abusing officers publicly thus exposing them not only to humiliation but lowering their morale and confidence. Many officers told KNS that Divisional Commissioner Kashmir has been habitual of insulting and passing comments to various officers in meetings which has been forcing many officers to hold back from the all important meetings. Sources said that the top bureaucrat who is known for his integrity has been harsh with his words to many officers for ‘undue’ reasons only to show his supremacy. They added that even Deputy Commissioners are reluctant to attend his meetings as they feel insecure to face him.
“He is humiliating everybody. Don’t know what he wants to prove by insulting officers even of the rank of Deputy Commissioner’s and Directors”. Said an officer.
The revelations have come to fore days after Urban Local bodies employees expressed their anguish over the remarks of Divisional Commissioner for the director of the department during a video confernce. The officers of the department have criticized divisional Commissioner for ‘insulting’ their director without any reason.
“ It is because of the incumbent director, that the ULB department has undergone such a major overhaul.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWe have been working overtime to provide better facilities to the public.” Said a group of Executive officers of the department. They added, that despite limited resources, the department has been able not only to provide better facilities in major townships but also generate income to build its own resources.
“He has streamlined the department. His focus has been multi directional. We collected crores of revenue this year besides providing best possible facilities. The illegal building constrictions in municipal limits has been dealt seriously. Long due promotions to our employees have been cleared and the department has geared up to generate its own assets.” Said the officers, adding that the divisional commissioner’s comments were unacceptable and aimed to demoralize them. They claimed that the implementation of Prime Minister’s ‘Swach Bharat’ Abhiyan has been possible only because of the innovative approach of the incumbent director .
We have got latest machines for ‘solid waste’ management. “If divisional commissioner and his deputy commissioner cannot provide land, what can we do. He has to blame himself for failing to provide land for waste management instead of expecting us to dump the waste”. Stressed the officers.
They appealed Chief Minster to put a check on such behavior of officers and said the dignity of the high public offices should be upheld. (KNS)
