UK FS Boris Johnson's statement welcome but practical steps needed: Shah

‘It is due to British policy that people of this State continue to suffer heavily at hands of India’

Srinagar, Nov 25 (KNS): Welcoming the statement of UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson regarding Kashmir, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Friday urged the country to take practical steps in this regard.
Johnson had on Thursday asked India and Pakistan to find a lasting solution to the Kashmir issue.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah reminded the UK Foreign Secretary that "it is due to the British policy on Jammu Kashmir during the partition of subcontinent that the people of this State continue to suffer heavily at the hands of India".
Shah said the UK and other world powers recently played their role in resolving many major issues of the world but their disinterest in meditating over the long-standing dispute of Jammu Kashmir is "extremely unfortunate".
“Such unsympathetic attitude maintained by world powers over the Kashmir dispute is only emboldening India to strengthen its illegal and forcible occupation on this territory and the country is continuously committing grave human rights violation in the region. Even innocent minor children are being blinded by lethal weapons,” he said.
The DFP chairman said the unending rivalry between the two nuclear neighbouring nations can result in a full fledged war and the world powers including the UK is duty bound to meditate between India and Pakistan to resolve this issue.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Terming the unabated skirmishes between India and Pakistan on LoC as a matter of serious concern, Shah said the unresolved dispute of Jammu Kashmir is continuously consuming human lives and countries' budget which is spent on defence purposes.
Accusing the world leadership particularly the European countries of maintaining "double standards", Shah said, "To intervene in any issue of the world, these nations need just an excuse but the Kashmir dispute which is awaiting resolution for the last 70 years is being ignored. May be, these countries want both India and Pakistan to continue the arms race and procure armament from European markets."
Shabir Ahmad Shah asked the British Foreign Secretary that Jammu Kashmir is an unfinished agenda of the partition of subcontinent and that the UK is most duty bound to play role in this regard.
Shah strongly condemned what he termed as “trade” policy adopted by world nations regarding Kashmir saying the world peace is endangered by such policy. (KNS)
