Srinagar, June 04 (KNS): The Government Saturday said that two new receiving stations have been allotted for Wachi Assembly segment in southern Shopian district and said that steps are afoot for improvement of power lines network.
Minister for Power Development Department and Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh said that construction of new 6.3 MVA Receiving station at Trenz has been proposed under Deendayal Upadhayaya Gram Jyoti Yojana on priority list.
The minister said that the Receiving Station at Kapran will be incorporated under PMRRP-2015, subject to feasibility.
Singh was replying to a written question of PDP MLA from Wachi Advocate Aijaz Ahmad Mir in the Lower House today.
The minister said that seven Receiving stations are feeding the Wachi Assembly segment and the capacity of these Receiving Stations is adequate to meet demand of the consumers.

The deputy CM said the receiving station D.H Pora stands augmented from 10 MVA to 10+6.3 MVA during F.Y 2015-16 and augmentation of Receiving station, Reshipora from 6.3+10 MVA to 2x10 MVA has been incorporated in action plan for financial year 2016-17 under T&D.
On the improvement of power lines network, the minister said that Rs 1 crore were released during 2015-16 for improvement of HT/LT network.
Later, while speaking during Discussion and Voting of the demands for Grants for PWD, Mir demanded the government should begin work on Bijbehara-Shopian highway, compensate the NABARD projects that were not allotted to Shopian district in the last eight years.
The MLA demanded that macadamisation of roads in Wachi should be started immediately as the work gets halted during cold season that sets early in the hilly area. (KNS)
