Two militants involved in killing police inspector in Nowgam Srinagar: Police

Srinagar, June 23 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir police had said that two militants were involved in carrying out attack on a police officer in Nowgam in the outskirts of Srinagar last evening.

 

In a statement issuer to the Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that at about 8:00 PM, two unidentified militants fired indiscriminately upon a police inspector, in front of a local mosque while he was going for prayers near Menganwaji area of Nowgam 

 

“IGP Kashmir, DIG CKR and SSP Srinagar reached at the spot and inspected scene of crime. Preliminary investigation revealed that two militants fired upon a police inspector Parvez Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar from pistols while he was going to offer Magrib Prayers,” reads the statement.

 

The statements reads that in this incident, Parvez had sustained grievous bullet injuries and was shifted to nearby hospital for the treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.

 

“We pay our rich tributes to the martyr who left behind his wife and inconsolable two young children—13-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son.

 

It reads that CCTV footage shows firing by two militants with pistols and their identification is being done, while suspects are being questioned. 

 

Meanwhile, Police have registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. 

“Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the circumstances which lead to this incident,” it reads. (KNS)
