Anantnag, Mar 8 (KNS): At least two youth were Tuesday injured in firing by forces in Ashmuqam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Earlier, forces laid a cordon and search operation in the area following information about presence of militants in the area, reports said.
Soon after the police launched search operation, clashes erupted between youth and forces at Iram Colony, Ashmuqam in the wee hours of the morning.
However, reports said that Army men belonging to 3RR allegedly opened fire on protesters resulted in the injuries of two youth.
The injured youth who were identified as Javaid Ahmad Wani, 22, a resident of Magray Mohalla and 20-year-old Amir Ahmad Sheikh were hospitalized.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Wani, who according to the reports received a bullet in his neck, has been shifted to Srinagar for treatment; while Sheikh was admitted at District Hospital Anantnag.
DC Anantnag, Muneer-ul-Islam told KNS that Army refused that their soldier opened fire on the protesters. “We have ordered judicial inquiry in this regard and have formulated a team lead by Additional DC Ghulam Hassan Sheikh to investigate into the matter within 15 days,” he said. (KNS)
