Srinagar, Mar 07 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two people and recovered a huge quantity of prescription drugs on their instance at Sangam.
SSP Anantnag, Zubair Ahmad Khan while addressing a presser at police post Sangam said, “Following a tip off about the transportation of drugs, a police party headed by D O Police Post Sangam, Mohammad Ashraf under the supervision of SDPO Bijbehara, Tanveer Ahmad laid a Naka at Sangam Bridge.”
He said that a police party intercepted the suspected vehicle bearing registration number JK05/6704 at Sangam Bridge. “On checking of the vehicle, police recovered 39 boxes consisting of 4680 bottles of Codeine Phosphate,” he added.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
According to KNS correspondent, Tassaduq Rashid, SSP said that both driver and conductor of the vehicle have been arrested.
He identified them as identified as Majid Abaas Wani son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani, resident of Rakhi Shilwet Tehsil Sumbal and Tawfeeq Ahmad Parray, son of Abdul Salam Parray, resident of Wangipor Sumbal.
A case FIR 21/2017 under section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered against them and further investigation has been taken up, he added. (KNS)
