Bandipora, Aug 8 (KNS): Two persons were apprehended after police allegedly recovered packets containing a charas-like substance from their possession during a routine patrol at Badwan area of Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday.
Officials said that SHO Police Station Gurez Nazir Ahmad, along with his escort party, was conducting routine patrolling when the two persons were noticed behaving suspiciously. On seeing the police party, the duo allegedly attempted to flee but were apprehended at the spot.
The accused have been identified as Asif Ahmad Lone, son of Mohd Sultan Lone, resident of Wanpora Gurez, and Mohsin Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Mohideen Khan, resident of Chack Arsalan Khan, Bandipora.

Officials said that a personal search was conducted in the presence of the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Gurez/Tulail, and witnesses, during which packets containing a charas-like substance were allegedly recovered from their possession.
Following the recovery, police registered FIR No. 12/2026 under Sections 18 and 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Gurez.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, officials said.(KNS).
