Srinagar, Dec 30 (KNS): At least six militants of JeM outfit and a soldier were killed, while two soldiers and a cop were injured in twin encounters that broke out in Anantnag and Kulgam districts respectively late last night.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that three militants of JeM outfit including a foreign militant were killed in the encounter that broke out in Nowgam area of Shahabad Dooru in Anantnag district late last night.

He said that a cop was also injured in the initial exchange of fire in the area. “Three army soldiers were also injured during the exchange of fire in Shahabad Dooru, however, one of them succumbed to his injuries today morning,” he said.

The official said that other injured personnel were undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, police said that three more militants were killed in an overnight encounter in Mirhama area of Kulgam district.

An official said that two local militants and a Pakistani militant of JeM outfit were killed in the encounter in Mirhama area.

He said that one M4 rifle and 02 AK-47 rifles were recovered from the encounter site. (KNS)
