Baramulla, June 8 (KNS): In its ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking, Baramulla Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Tangmarg and recovered heroin-like contraband substance from their possession.
According to an official statement from the Police Media Cell Baramulla, a police party from Police Station Tangmarg, led by SHO Tangmarg, had set up a checkpoint in the area as part of routine surveillance. During the operation, a suspicious Alto car bearing registration number JK04E-1076 was intercepted.
The individuals on board were identified as Zahid Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir, a resident of Chanapora, and Mudasir Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Ahad Lone, a resident of Treran. Both accused were immediately taken into custody on the spot. A case under FIR No. 34/2025 has been registered at Police Station Tangmarg under relevant sections of the NDPS Act (8/21). The vehicle used in the commission of the offence has also been seized.
Baramulla Police have reiterated their commitment to eradicating the drug menace and urged the public to report any suspicious drug-related activities. Citizens are encouraged to contact the nearest police station or dial 112 in case of emergencies or tips.
