Srinagar, Dec 05 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two active militants of LeT outfit and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that police along with security forces arrested two active militants in Shopian and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.

He said that acting on a specific input regarding the presence of an active militant namely Shahid Ahmad Gaine son of Gulzar Ahmad Ganie of Doomwani Keegam of LeT outfit and his close associate at Doomwani village near Rambi Ara.  

“Police along with 44RR and 14Bn CRPF launched a joint cordon and search operation in the area. When joint parties of Police and SFs approached to the suspected spot, two suspects tried to flee from the spot. However, the duo was arrested tactfully by the joint search parties,” he said.

He identified another militant as Kifayat Ayoub Alie son of Mohammad Ayoub Alie of Pinjoora area of Shopian.

He said that incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including a Chinese pistol, pistol magazine, two Chinese hand grenades, 08 pistol rounds were recovered from their possession, besides cash amount of Rs. 2.9 lakh was also recovered from their possession,” he said. 

The official said that a case FIR No.294/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation has been taken up. (KNS)
