Trump Announces 25 percent Tariff on India Starting August 1

Washington, July 30 (KNS): US President Donald Trump has announced that India will face a 25% tariff on goods starting August 1, citing trade imbalances and India’s close ties with Russia.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that while India is considered a friend, the US has done limited trade with the country due to what he called high tariffs and strict non-monetary trade barriers.

“India has some of the highest tariffs in the world and very tough trade restrictions,” he wrote.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe also criticized India for relying heavily on Russia for military equipment and energy, especially at a time when global pressure is mounting on Russia to stop the war in Ukraine.

“India will therefore be paying a tariff of 25%, plus a penalty, starting August 1,” Trump added.(KNS)
