Tricolour hoisted at 14,000 ft in Gulmarg, first-ever pony rally held

Gulmarg, Aug 13 (KNS): The national flag was hoisted at an altitude of about 14,000 feet in the famous ski resort of Gulmarg on Thursday, as authorities rolled out a unique patriotic programme ahead of Independence Day.
 
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla S.F Hamid led the ceremony, which was attended by SSP Baramulla Gurinderpal Singh, CEO Gulmarg Development Authority Tariq Hussain, SDM Gulmarg, Tehsildar Tangmarg Syed Eyad Qadri, SDPO Gulmarg Faizan Ali, and SHOs Haroon Kar and Tangmarg. Army personnel, police officers and other officials were also present on the occasion.
 
The Tricolour was unfurled with full respect, and a ceremonial salute was presented to the Deputy Commissioner.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelParticipants carried the flag and paid their tributes.
 
In a first, a 'Tiranga Pony Rally' was organised from Gulmarg to Gulmarg First Phase as part of the celebrations. Around 100 horses and ponies, each carrying the Tricolour, took part in the ride. Senior civil and police officers also joined the rally, making it a distinctive attraction ahead of August 15.
 
The initiative, officials said, was aimed at adding a new dimension to the Independence Day festivities in the popular tourist destination. (KNS)
