Srinagar, Nov 01 (KNS): The 24th death anniversary of former Member J&K Constituent Assembly Ghulam Ahmad Mir was today observed in Pahalgam by Peoples Democratic Party. Ghulam Ahmad Mir fondly known as ‘Mir e Sallar’ was a member of constituent assembly and member of legislative council from Pahagam.
In a statement to KNS, PDP General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir and other senior party leaders have paid rich tributes to the late leader.
They described him as a tall leader who was one of the primary architects of the constitution of J&K and one of the principal stewards of the land reforms.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe recalled the period during which Mir e Sallar had worked with eminent leaders like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Bakshi Ghulam Muhammad, D.P Dhar and G.L Dogra and how he had strived for strengthening the cherished values of secularism and democracy in J&K.
The leaders referred to the crucial role in horticulture and agriculture pioneered by Mir e Sallar after introducing apple cultivation in Pahalgam - Bijbehara belt which laid the foundations of a progressive society. (KNS)
