Tribal Affairs Deptt expresses gratitude to FCS&CS

Srinagar July 18:(KNS) The Jammu and Kashmir Government has issued guidelines for making ration available to migratory nomadic tribal families from nearest Fair Price Shops on migration to higher reaches in summer. The order issued in this regard endeavours to making them eligible for exercising portability and ensuring each family received their due ration quota. 

 

  The decision came after detailed discussions held between Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Tribal Affairs Department about the issues faced by tribal families regarding ration in highland pastures in Kashmir as they were registered in various districts in Jammu ok Offline POS mode. 

 

Commissioner/ Secretary, FCS&CA Zubair Ahmed and Secretary Tribal Affairs Department Shahid Iqbal Choudhary held deliberations on the subject in view feedback from various stakeholders and areas in Kashmir districts regarding ration issue faced by families in some pockets owing to their non-registration. 

 

The department of FCS&CA has issued directions on the subject for registration of all uncovered tribal families and also that both directors FCS&CA will coordinate to detach offline POS families not receiving ration and attach them to nearest Fair Price Shop to ensure ration is delivered to all the migratory families during the period of migration. These families will be provided ration under the portability system at both the places depending on the period of stay. 

 

Tribal Affairs Department has accordingly written to all the Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir division for holding camps to cover uncovered tribal migratory families for their registration and facilitating delivery of ration from nearest FPS shops. This effort in consonance with the directions issued by the FCS&CA to field offices of the department will ensure availability of ration to all nomadic families henceforth. 

 

It’s pertinent to mention here that FCS&CA department has also issued directions to register all uncovered nomadic tribal families as a part of drive for vulnerable population / families on priority and out in place mechanism for ensuring 100% coverage for ration availability to them. 

 

Secretary Tribal Affairs , Shahid Iqbal Choudhary expressed gratitude to Zubair Ahmed , Commissioner/ Secretary FCS&CA for resolution of long pending issue; and Deputy Commissioners for their personal efforts in making ration available to these nomadic families on migration to higher reaches. A number of deputations from Shopian, Kulgam and Pulwama also expressed satisfaction over the decision which will make all the families eligible to receive ration from nearest FPS and also make them eligible under portability.
