Sopore, Mar 07 (KNS): Residents of Krankshivan Colony locality of Sopore town in have accused the public transport operators of overcharging of fares from passengers on Sopore-Krankshivan route. 
 
Locals told Kashmir News service (KNS), that drivers who ply from Super Bazar (Shah-Dargah Chowk) to Krankshivan are continuously charging extra fare from passengers and despite knowing the facts, ARTO concerned and Police have turned a blind eye towards the issue.
 
They expressed their anger against the administration on their failure to control overcharging of fares. "Drivers are charging Rs 15 for 2.3 kms as well as for 5 kms distance,” they alleged.
 
They said that the transporters are charging Rs 15 for which Rs 08 were charged previously. “When we ask for the rate list, they are resorting to rude language,” the locals alleged.
 
Residents, while urging Police to take action against the violators also urged the ARTO to deploy his team regularly on the route and not restrict his action to ‘special drives’ only. 
 
Meanwhile, assistant regional transport officer Baramulla, Mubashir Jan despite repeated attempts didn't receive phone calls from this correspondent. (KNS)
