Srinagar, Sep 24: Jammu and Kashmir Minister for horticulture Javid Dar on Wednesday said that the transport of goods from Jammu to Srinagar, which had been halted for 2-3 days, has now resumed, easing the situation in the fruit market.

“For the last 2-3 days, down transport was coming from Jammu to Srinagar. Obviously, the transport was stopped for 2-3 days. Because of this, we were feeling the lack of transport. Because of which, we were using SRT buses. Rates were increasing. Now that the transport has come from there, the loading that was not happening in the fruit market, now that loading is happening properly,” he told Kashmir News Service (KNS).

The minister added that around 3-4 thousand vehicles had been assembled at Kazikode due to the disruption.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“But today, the transport is coming from the morning itself. I hope that by evening or midnight, all the backlog will be removed,” he said.

He also highlighted some concerns about slowing movement due to goods coming down from the mountains. “People are still a little worried because the movement is decreasing. The movement is decreasing because today, the people who carry their goods to the mountains, they are coming down, especially from Jammu province. Because of this, the movement is slowing down,” he said.

Javid Dar stressed the need for proper timing to manage transport smoothly. “So, we said that there should be a timing. We told them to keep a time so that the whole system runs smoothly,” he added.(KNS)
