Jammu, Feb 22 (KNS): A Review meeting of the Motor Vehicle Department of Jammu Region was convened today on 22nd February, 2017 in the Transport Commissioner’s Office Jammu under the Chairmanship of Transport Commissioner, J&K, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad which was attended by all RTOs/ARTOs of Jammu Region besides officers of the Transport Commissioner’s Office and NIC. All the important issues pertaining to Motor Vehicles Department were discussed which include the latest demands projected by the Transport Associations before the Chief Minister.
It was reiterated by the Transport Commissioner to the Field Functionaries that the department should come up to the expectations of the general public and should provide service delivery in a time bound manner without any delay. A time line of 15th March, 2017 was set up for switchover of all the Offices (except Leh & Kargil) to VAHAN & SARTHI Version 4 which is a web based online portal for providing online services to the general public.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Other issues like holding of Regional Transport Authority Meetings, Issuance of Driving Licenses, Issuance of permits, Registration of vehicles, Fitness of vehicles, status of Public Service Guarantee Act/ RTI, holding of awareness camps, revenue realization, level of expenditure achieved besides enforcement of provisions of Motor Vehicles Act and rules framed thereof were discussed in detail and necessary instructions were conveyed to the field staff for putting additional efforts to achieve the targets and provide better services to the common masses. The actionable points contained in the State Road Safety Policy were also discussed and timeline were fixed for preparing action taken report for submission to the Government.
Transport Commissioner called for active support and coordination from the field functionaries for enriching the image of the department and disposing of issues in a hassle free environment in a time bound manner. (KNS)
