Srinagar, Feb 01 (KNS): In its sustainable drive to streamline the traffic system in Srinagar City, Traffic PoliceMonday said that it has cracked down on Passenger service vehicles (TATA-407) for overloading, intermittent wrong stops, board / de-board of passengers at places other than designated bus stops, without driving licenses, passenger inconvenience, slow and delayed operations and imposed 138 challans with fine realization to the tune of Rs.47500/-, besides 15 vehicles were seized.
In a statement issued to KNS, Traffic police said that general public was found all praise for this effort on part of Traffic Police who heaved a sigh of relief and appreciated such initiatives much to the dismay and despondency of wayward TATA-407 operators.
“Besides, vehicles were checked for audio systems, reservation of seats for ladies or handicapped and on spot counseling were conducted by the SSP traffic to boost better public transport services,” they said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They said that to ensure convenience to general public, all public transport operators including TATA-407, LP, Sumo, Taveera, Auto rickshaws etc are advised and warned to strictly abide by the charter of responsibilities, agreements made from time to time and provide better public transport facilities to public from dawn to dusk as enshrined under law and desist from intermittent, wrong stop, board, de-board of passengers at designated bus stops, availability of valid documentation of vehicles, avoid slow and delayed operations.
