Srinagar, June 7 (KNS): The district administration of Kupwara, in collaboration with the Indian Army, on Sunday launched a tourism portal and a tourism magazine aimed at promoting border tourism and showcasing the tourism potential of North Kashmir.
The initiatives — "Shumali Kashmir" Tourism Portal and the North Kashmir Tourism Magazine — were unveiled during a tourism promotion event held at the Deputy Commissioner's Office in Kupwara.
According to officials, the platforms have been developed to provide information about tourist destinations, cultural heritage, adventure tourism opportunities and local experiences across North Kashmir.
The portal and magazine feature destinations including Keran, Machhal, Karnah, Lolab, Gurez, Tangdhar and Kupwara, with the objective of attracting more domestic and international visitors to the region.
The event was attended by officials from various departments, tourism stakeholders, hoteliers, travel operators, homestay owners, transport associations and local entrepreneurs.

Discussions focused on improving tourism infrastructure, strengthening stakeholder partnerships and enhancing visitor experiences while ensuring sustainable growth of the sector.
An exhibition showcasing products and enterprises supported under various Indian Army initiatives was also organised on the occasion. Entrepreneurs representing Barkat Bistro, FLOWK, Harmukh Sheen Washing Powder, Keren LED Bulbs, and artisans and producers from Tulail and Karnah displayed their products.
Officials said the initiatives are expected to help generate employment opportunities, support local businesses and promote community participation in tourism-related activities.
Participants stressed the need for responsible and sustainable tourism development and highlighted the sector's potential in livelihood generation, cultural preservation and economic growth in North Kashmir.(KNS).
