Tourism Department in collab with NTTA/NLCO leads Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign at Zabarwan Park

 Srinagar, May 02 (KNS) ; As a part of ongoing UT wide campaign on “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) The Department of Tourism, through Tourist Office Zabarwan Park, conducted a high impact awareness campaign under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at Zabarwan Park, at the banks of world famous Dal Lake bringing together institutions, civil society, and students in a unified call for a drug free society.

 
The programme was organised by the Tourist Office Zabarwan in collaboration with Nigeen Lakes Conservation Organisation (NLCO), Nigeen Tourist Traders Association (NTTA), Bilaliya Educational Institute (BEI), J&K Hotel & Restaurant Association (JKHARA), and TAEAM IND. Restaurant. The programme was attended by the officers of the directorate, Mrs. Rehmat Bhat, Assistant Director Tourism , Mr. Manzoor Wangnoo- Chairman NLCO, NTTA and BEI, Mr. Babar Choudhary- President J&K Hotel & Restaurant Association (JKHARA) and TEAM IND. Restaurant, the school children from two leading schools of the Srinagar city, Bilaliya Educational Institute Lalbazar and International Delhi Public School Zakura, tourism stakeholders, shikara and houseboat operators, tourists and public. 
 
 
Incharge Tourist Office Zabarwan park, Mrs. Shaista delivered a key note address and welcomed the participants of the programme.The event inaugurated with a plantation drive, setting the tone for responsible action. Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo, who attended as Chief Guest, planted saplings along with the park incharge, marking a symbolic commitment towards a healthier environment and society.
 
 
 
Students from BEI and IDPS spoke with clarity and conviction on the growing drug menace, calling for awareness and vigilance.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelSchool principals echoed the need for action on the ground and collective responsibility to safeguard the future. Dr. Lateef, VP JKHARA stressed on the importance of sensitising younger generation to stay away from drugs. C
 
In his address, the Chief Guest emphasised the need for practical, result oriented interventions. Speaking as Chairman MEERC under Private Schools Association of Jammu & Kashmir, he announced plans to develop a structured roadmap for schools and society to address drug abuse at an early stage. He also stressed the urgent need to strengthen rehabilitation centres and make them more functional. 
 
He appreciated the decisive leadership of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor for spearheading this campaign and driving a focused 100 day initiative across the Union Territory.
 
The programme concluded with an awareness rally Zabarwan park to Lalit Ghat led by the Chief Guest, organisers, school heads, students, and officials, carrying a clear message from which saw a huge participation of tourism officials, activists, students, tourists and community, that a drug free society is a shared responsibility.
 
Chairman NLCO expressed gratitude to the Department of Tourism & incharge Zabarwan Park for organizing the campaign and acknowledged the support of all partner organizations and police authorities for their cooperation in making the event successful. (KNS)
