Srinagar, 29 June (KNS): Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar said that two militants who are involved in the killing of SPO and his family in Awantipora have been identified while as two militants including a top LeT commander were killed in Parimpora gunfight.

 

Addressing a press conference at police headquarters Srinagar, IGP said that "We have identified a local and a Pakistani militant of JeM and we are tracking them in connection with the killing of J&K Police SPO Fayaz Ahmad and his wife and daughter in the Tral area of Pulwama district and will neutralize them soon."

 

Talking about the Parimpora encounter, he said that in the ensuing gunfight, a foreign militant who fired from inside the house was neutralized and Abrar also got killed.

 

 "Two AK-47 rifles were recovered from the site. Abrar was involved in several killings of security forces and civilians."

 

IGP also said that Top LeT commander Abrar, who was arrested yesterday, disclosed during interrogation that he had kept his AK-47 rifle in a house but did not disclose the presence of militant in the house. "

 

"When the party was entering the house to recover the weapon, one of his associates hiding inside the house fired on the party, resulting in injuries of three security forces personnel."

 

He said that Abrar was taken along by security forces and when house was being searched, the militant hiding inside fired upon security forces in which Abrar also sustained injuries.

 

IGP also said that Abrar was killed with other foreign militant in this operation and two AK-47 weapons were recovered from the site.

 

Replying a query how he sees drone movement in Jammu region, IGP said that drones are technological threat, and they will reply to it with technology.

 

"We had a meeting at 15 Core Headquarters regarding the drone threat yesterday. Security installations and LOC in Kashmir have been put on high alert. Another drone was spotted over Dal Lake today. Police have seized it and lodged an FIR and probe is on," he added.

 

Replying a query regarding killing of SPO, his family IGP said that these killings are aimed at creating fear and disrupt ongoing tourist season.

 

"We cannot stop our men to go on leave. They have their families and have the right to visit their home," he added. (KNS)
