Srinagar, Jan 09 (KNS): Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has issued a fervent plea to all consumers, urging them to promptly settle their outstanding power bills to prevent the looming threat of disconnection.

News agency KNS reported that in a recent advisory, the corporation underscored the critical importance of adhering to stipulated deadlines to avoid any disruptions in power supply.

The advisory explicitly warns that failure to settle overdue bills in a timely manner may result in disconnection without any further notice. With a substantial number of consumers having outstanding bills, KPDCL emphasizes the necessity for compliance with payment timelines to maintain an uninterrupted power supply.

Highlighting the significance of timely bill settlement, the advisory emphasizes that disconnection procedures will be initiated for those who do not clear their dues within the specified timeframe. KPDCL officials clarify that these disconnection processes will adhere to established procedures and guidelines.

In a bid to assist consumers facing financial constraints, KPDCL encourages proactive engagement with their customer service. The corporation is open to exploring viable solutions, including installment plans or other arrangements to alleviate the burden on consumers.

This advisory aligns with KPDCL's ongoing efforts to streamline billing processes and enhance overall service efficiency. The corporation aims to establish a fair and transparent system for all consumers, ensuring the financial viability of the power distribution network.

Consumers are strongly advised to review their bill statements promptly and make necessary payments to avoid inconveniences caused by sudden disconnections. KPDCL reassures consumers that these measures are essential for the sustainability and reliability of the power distribution infrastructure.

In addition to urging prompt bill settlements, KPDCL also emphasizes its commitment to combat illicit activities, particularly power theft. The corporation asserts a relentless stance against such practices, warning that consumers engaged in power pilferage may face severe consequences under the Electricity Act. Penalties can include hefty fines and disconnection of power supply, reinforcing KPDCL's dedication to maintaining the integrity of the power supply system.

As part of its ongoing efforts, KPDCL highlights its commitment to providing reliable power to consumers. Currently sustaining 24x7 power supplies to 33 feeders with minimal losses, the corporation encourages the adoption of Low Tension Aerial Bunched (LTAB) cabling and Smart Meter installations in localities, considering them crucial steps toward efficient power management.

Amidst these comprehensive measures, KPDCL calls for cooperation from all stakeholders to maintain a stable and efficient electricity supply in the region, ensuring the well-being and satisfaction of consumers.(KNS)
