Jammu, Mar 22 (KNS): The Jammu Division of the Northern Railway on Sunday apprehended 249 passengers and collected Rs 1,10,000 in fines during a special ticket checking drive conducted on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) to Pathankot Cantt (PTKC) rail section.
A senior railway official told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the drive was carried out under the supervision of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager with special teams comprising ticket checking staff and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel deployed across trains and station premises along the route.
Speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said, "The Railway Administration is committed to ensuring a pleasant journey for all passengers during the auspicious occasion of Navratri. Strict penal action, in accordance with the relevant sections of the Railways Act, will be initiated against any passenger found traveling without a valid ticket."
He added that special ticket checking squads have been deployed at major stations and aboard trains within the division. During the drive, passengers were also sensitized about the utility of the 'Railone' app. The officer also appealed to passengers to travel only with valid tickets. (KNS)
