Jammu, Feb 14 (KNS) : Under the guidance of Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, continuous efforts are being made to provide high-quality passenger service.
An official told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) to ensure the convenience of ticketed passengers, effectively curb ticketless and irregular travel, and to educate passengers about railway rules, a comprehensive ticket checking campaign was conducted on the Katra-Jammu-Pathankot rail section in Jammu Division today, February 14, by teams led by Mr. Uchit Singhal.
He said a similar ticket checking campaign was also conducted on the Budgam to Banihal rail section in the Kashmir Valley.
The ticket checking campaign included extensive ticket checking at railway stations and in trains. In this checking drive, a total of ?91030/- in fines were collected from 190 ticketless passengers.
The division's Assistant Commercial Manager, Chief Ticket Inspector Jammu, along with ticket checking staff, Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police actively participated in this drive.

Speaking about the ticket checking drive being conducted today in Jammu Division, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal, stated, "The Railways' objective behind this ticket checking drive is to encourage passengers to travel with tickets, ensuring a comfortable journey for those with reserved tickets. Furthermore, in case of an emergency, when other modes of transport are shut down, the Railways become a "symbol of reliability," making periodic checks necessary to prevent crowding by unauthorized passengers.
During the ticket checking, passengers were also made aware of the importance of booking tickets through the RailOne App and making their journeys smart and comfortable by availing the 3% special discount available until July 14, 2026.
Jammu Division appeals to passengers to travel with valid tickets, to use the foot overbridge to cross the station premises, and to cooperate in maintaining a clean and safe railway premises." (KNS)
