Ticket checker reunites elderly woman with family at Katra railway station

 Katra, May 12 (KNS): An elderly woman from Madhya Pradesh, who got separated from her family at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra railway station, was reunited with them following a timely intervention by the ticket checking staff, an official said on Tuesday.

 
Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) the woman, a resident of Vikramgarh, was found in a distressed condition near the inquiry counter on Monday evening.
 
He said ticket checker Kamalkant noticed her and upon inquiry learnt that she had lost contact with her family a day earlier amid the rush at the station.

The ticket checking staff immediately informed the Government Railway Police (GRP). Based on the information gathered, the family members were contacted over phone and assured of her safety.
 
The woman was later sent to her hometown on the Swaraj Express (Train No. 12472). Onboard staff were instructed to take special care of her during the journey, the official added.
 
Singhal commended the staff for their sensitivity. "The ticket checking staff not only discharged their official duties but also demonstrated true humanity. The trust of our passengers is our greatest asset," he said.
 
Meanwhile, Local passengers and the woman's family have praised the prompt action by the Railways and the GRP. (KNS)
