Srinagar, Aug 21(KNS): Three JeM militants were killed in a gunbattle with security forces in Upper reaches of Forest area of Nagbaeran Tral in South Kashmir's Awantipora, Police said Saturday morning. 

A Police official told Kashmir News service (KNS) that the three unidentified militants belong to JeM outfit have been killed while the search operation in the area is going on. 

 Kashmir Police Zone also informed in a tweet that 03 unidentified terrorist affiliated with proscribed terror outfit JeM killed. Search going on. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice.

Earlier a Joint team of Army, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon and search operation after specific inputs about presence of militants in Nagbaeran forest area. 

He said that after they approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter. (KNS).
