DGP says ‘big threat to peace, security averted’

Jammu, Sep 13 (KNS): Three Jaish-e-Muhammad militants were Thursday killed while as SDPO Nagrota and two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officers and some personnel were injured in an encounter that raged between forces and militants in Kakriyal area of Jammu region.
Police officials said that the presence of militants in Kakriyal area of Jammu seems a case of fresh infiltration of yesterday morning from Pakistan most likely from Hiranagar belt of international border.
Officials said that “on Wednesday during checking by flying squad at Domail, police party signaled a truck bearing No.JK03-1476 which was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar to stop during which the three militants who were boarding in the truck opened fire.”
They said one person received bullet injury while as the militants managed to escape in the forest area of Jhajjar Kotli. “Truck was seized and driver and helper were arrested. One AK-56, loaded magazines, one Chinese Pistol and other incriminating material was recovered from the site,” officials said.
They said that a massive Cordon and Search Operations were jointly launched by Police, CRPF and Army in the villages near Katra to nab the militants. “The security components of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine were also alerted. A lookout notice was issued through social and mass media,” officials said.
Police said three Senior Superintendent of Police (SSPs) of Reasi, Udhampur, Jammu, Addl. SP Katra and SDPO Nagrota rushed to the spot after receiving the information.
“DIG Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti commanded the operations alongwith Army and CRPF, IGP Jammu Dr.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelS.D Singh Jamwal who was at Delhi for a meeting rushed back and joined the operations,” police spokesman said.
“The vast area was kept under tight cordon during the night and with day break contact was established after militants were tracked at Kakrayal. The exchange of fire continued till 05 pm this evening,” police spokesman said, adding that all the three militants were killed while as SDPO Nagrota, two officers of CRPF and some police and security force men sustained injuries.
Police said that it seems a case of fresh infiltration of yesterday morning from Pakistan most likely from Hiranagar belt of International Border. “These militants had come from Pakistan to disturb peace and cause violence against the people of State,” spokesman added.
“Preliminary investigation points that the militants belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammad. Bodies of all the three militants have been recovered while as Arms and ammunition have also been recovered from the militants,” police said.
Meanwhile, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh complimented the role of the Police, CRPF, Army and general public of the area who cooperated with the operational parties from yesterday, which led to successful culmination of the operations and ‘averted a big threat from the militants to peace and security in the State’.
He also wished speedy recovery to the officers and cops and security forces injured in this operation. (KNS)
