 Srinagar, Sep 06 (KNS): Thousands attended the funeral prayers of Asif Majeed Nagoo son of Ab Majeed Nagoo resident of Soniwani Village, who succumbed to injuries late Monday evening at SMHS hospital Srinagar.
According to KNS correspondent, more than 25 thousand people attended the funeral prayers of slain youth amid sobs and slogans.
Asif Majeed sustained injuries at a time when All Party Delegation had just concluded its visit in Srinagar.
The slain youth had secured 89% marks in matriculation exams and his father remembers him as an ‘intelligent boy’ among his family members.
Asif was a 12th class non medical student who aspired to become an engineer.
On September 04, Asif was hit by pellets in head during clashes at Wadoora on Sunday last week. However police has said that during the clashes Asif’s head struck with a stone accidently.
His father said, “When we received the news that Asif has sustained injury we rushed to the spot but he was already moved from the trouble spot by some policemen to nearby Sub Distrit Hospital Sopore but alas!Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelPolice reached late with injured Asif almost an hour after our arrival at the hospital “ Imagine police moved hospital earlier and we rushed to hospital late but we reached hospital earlier and police reached with injured Asif later”.
Asif was later rushed to Srinagar SMHS Hospital.
Ab Majeed the father the slain youth said, “Two surgeries were conducted before he was put on ventilator, and on Monday late evening he succumbed to injuries,”.
“Asif’s one eye and brain was damaged due to the pellets as about 200 pellets were found in his head,” he added.
Asif’s first funeral prayers were offered in Hospital and the family of the slain youth carried the body to Sonawani at around 5am for final burial in the village.
“At various places we were stopped by forces and they were asking us is this the body of Asif but we told them he is not Musaib then they were asking what was the cause of his death, we told them he died a natural death,” said Ab Majeed. (KNS)
