"Never forced anyone to campaign for us; Those who didn’t support us can’t share our success"
Srinagar, Nov 7 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister on Friday said that people who refuse to install electric meters will not be able to benefit from the government’s decision to provide 200 units of free electricity to households, adding that politics over meters is misleading the public.
Speaking to reports at Budgam ahead of the bypolls, the Chief Minister said the government is committed to easing the burden on the common people. “We have promised to provide 200 units of free electricity to every household. But without installing a meter, we cannot fulfill this promise,” he said.
He urged people to make an informed choice rather than be misled by those politicizing the issue. “If you do not want to be a part of this major decision, then don’t put a meter. But when we start providing 200 units of free electricity and you have no meter at home, you will not benefit. Then blame those who are doing politics on this issue,” he added.
The Chief Minister said some parties have “nothing to offer to people except deceit and lies,” while the government’s aim is to bring comfort and relief to every household.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
On the issue of “Vande Mataram” in schools, the Chief Minister said that no official decision has been taken through the Cabinet or the Education Department.
“There has been unnecessary controversy over this matter. The Education Minister has not signed any such decision. We will decide what should or should not happen in schools. There should be no external dictation in these matters,” he said.
Referring to the ongoing bypolls, the Chief Minister as per KNS expressed confidence in his party’s performance. “We feel that the atmosphere is in our favor. Only a few days are left, and we must work harder to reach every voter and secure both seats for the National Conference,” he said.
He added that party workers campaign of their own will, not by force. “We have never forced anyone to campaign. Those who want to come do so willingly. But when we succeed, those who didn’t support us will not be able to share our happiness,” he said.
Omar said that one day he will present all facts before the people, “but today is not that day.”(KNS)
