Those skipped screening centres shall report by April 1 to save from legal action: DC Baramullah

Srinagar, Mar 31 (KNS): Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramullah Dr G N Itoo on Tuesday issued strict warning to those who reached Valley from outside parts after February 15 and didn’t report to screening centre’s and said if they failed to produce voluntarily before authorities till April 1, tough action will be taken against them.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Dr Itoo visited several areas of Baramulla town and took stock of the situation. During the visit several civil and police officials were present.He was accompanied by DySP headquarter Gulzar Rashid  and several  other officers 

While issuing strict warning to travelers who didn’t report so far to authorities, Dr Itoo said, “Administration is going to take tough action against those who reached Valley from outside parts February 15 onwards”.

He said, “We are giving them a chance to report screening centers in wake of COVID-19 outbreak for the wellbeing of people, if anybody failed to produce himself/herself before authorities, punitive action will be taken against such elements”.

Dr Itoo also said administration has already issued several “precautionary orders” for people to remain inside till the pandemic is defeated.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He stated that to prevent people’s movement, administration has executed lockdown and imposed Sec 144 but still we have received complaints that people are violating lockdown orders.

“I personally communicated several walks of life and asked them to confine themselves into homes and desist from roaming unnecessarily so that Covid-19 could be overpowered.

He added that authorities will ensure door to door supplies available. “Ration has already being started to distribute and we have ensured good amount of vegetables for consumers amid current situation. Also passes have been given to medical emergencies, so people should cooperate administration in all efforts”, Dr Itoo said.

DC Baramullah further said we have received complaints from several parts of the district that people are breaching lockdown orders and are approaching Mosques for prayers which would be lethal in wake of Covid-19 outbreak.

“Complaints have been received from several parts of district that people are approaching Mosques for prayers as administration has already banned temporarily mass assemblies. So who so ever is involved in breaching law, action as per law will be taken against them”, he stated. (KNS)
