Those attacked CRPF yesterday killed within 24 hours: IGP Kashmir on Pulwama encounter

Srinagar, Oct 20 (KNS): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir range Vijay Kumar Tuesday said that those attacked CRPF party in Tral yesterday were killed within 24 hours in an encounter raged in Hakripora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), IGP asserted that three militants have been killed in Hakripora encounter of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. He said the killed militants were affiliated with proscribed militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and were involved in attack carried out on Monday in south Kashmir’s Tral area in which a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper was injured.
“We succeeded in killing the attackers of yesterday within 24 hours with the help of coordination between joint forces and human intelligence in place”, IGP told KNS, adding the operation in the area is over.
Earlier joint team of Police, Army’s 55RR and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) after specific leads about presence of two to three militants in the area. “Soon search party established contact with hiding militants, they resorted to indiscriminate fire, triggering an encounter”, police had said.
It also said that prior to retaliatory fire from joint forces militants who had taken refugee were offered to surrender which they refused.
As per police official, arms, ammunition and other incriminating material has been seized from the possession of killed militants.
He said the killed militants will be buried as per Covid-19 protocols.
Meanwhile Army spokesperson Rajesh Kalia also confirmed that three militants were killed in Hakripora encounter in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday. “Three militants were killed in the encounter. Three AK rifles were also recovered from their possession”, Kalia said.
Meanwhile soon after the gunfight broke out in the area, authorities snapped 2G mobile service connectivity in the area to maintain law and order situation. (KNS)
