Srinagar, Jun 29 (KNS): Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) president and former minister, Ghulam Hassan Mir Saturday there is no alternative to the democratic rule.
He said elections should be held immediately, adding that people should get their elected representatives at an earliest.
Mir who had visited Baba Resshi area of Tangmarg constituency today termed the Union Home Minister’s statement wherein he had stated that assembly elections JK will be held later this year as ‘better late than never’
The former minister also interacted with the people the area who apprised him about various issues.
Mir however lashed out at Auqaf Committee, saying that people are not satisfied with the work being done by them, adding that the shrine lacks everything including proper sanitation, lights, car parking, park maintaining, washrooms and other things.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“I also came to know that Auqaf member has made the Auqaf a money minting machine,” he said, adding that the work on shrine that is going on since 1997 is yet to be completed.
He also said that the hike in rent of shopkeepers was also being done against the contract, which has led to the sufferings of people, adding that people here have demanded a local Waqf board to take care of the shrine and other things but the plea has been turned down.
Mir also said that the people of Gulmarg are also demanding the construction of Masjid, saying that the hoteliers there have said that they will construct the Masjid with their own money but have urged for the identification of the land. (KNS)
