Srinagar, Jan 23 (KNS): Terminated constable wireless operators on Monday, staged protest against their ‘sudden’ and ‘unjust termination’ from the department.
The wireless operators assembled at Srinagar’s press enclave and chanted slogans; ‘save our future’. They were demanding authorities to revoke their ousted order.
Talking to KNS, Mukhtar Ahmad, one of the protesters said, “We were appointed in 2010 year and after serving the department for 7 years, the authorities have expelled us without reason.”
He said that the candidates performed their duties in the harsh conditions at different headquarters of police department including armed BNS, VIP’s, VVIP’s elections and Yatra duties from the past seven years but unfortunately all in vain.
He said that police recruitment board made selection of more than 900 candidates as constable operator in 2009.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“The selected candidates joined the department in July 2010 followed by a tough period of 14 months BRTC from PTS Kathua where the candidates sought technical as well as heavy arms training,” the protester said.
“We appeal to the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Director General of Police (DGP) to look into the matter and redress our genuine grievances at earliest,” the protesters said.
They said that the ousted order issued by the department has left at least 250 families to suffer.
“I am the sole bread earner of my family and the department order can leave my family towards starvations,” Imtiyaz Ahmad, a protester said.
They later appeal home department to fulfill their demands as soon as possible. (KNS)
