Srinagar, Dec 12 (KNS): Aparna Kumar who is an IPS officer and Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award 2018 for her outstanding mountaineering achievements said she would promote Kashmir’s adventure in India and urge them to visit Kashmir for experiencing mountain like here.

According to this KNS Correspondent, She said, " I was invited on international mountain day. It is second day. Gulmarg looks beautiful in the falling snow. People from all the places should come to Kashmir to enjoy the hospitable weather and people."

She complimented the Tourism Department Kashmir for the grand event on eve of international mountain day for promotion of tourism.

"I am sure it will bring tourists here," she said, "There are directions that everything has to be open for tourists. institute of skiing and mountaineering is starting courses. winters sports activities have been started. Facilities here are excellent. Adventure lovers,sports lovers and athletes should come here for winter games,." She said according to KNS correspondent.

She added that Kashmir is blessed with majestic mountains which makes it one of the top destinations for mountain based adventure activities.

She also spoke about her journey with mountaineering. She said a strong resolve, focus and commitment is needed to achieve the unthinkable and keep on going forward despite failures to reach your goals. She was very impressed by the presence of large number of girls amongst the participants and said that adventure knows no gender “If one has the passion and will, nothing is impossible,” she said. She also exhorted on preserving mountain bio diversity by practicing sustainable tourism and adventure tourism activities. he is the 1st woman Indian Police Service (IPS) officer to complete “Seven Summits” Challenge. After successfully conquering the South and North Poles, She scaled the highest peak in North America, Mount Denali to achieve the rear feat. (KNS)
