Vaccination of people associated with tourism is priority for the revival of tourism in Kashmir: Sarmad Hafeez

Srinagar June 5:(KNS) Secretary tourism Sarmad Hafeez said for the revival of the tourism sector in Kashmir, Government at the moment is prioritising 100% vaccination of tourism stakeholders.

These include people associated with travel, trade, Hoteliors, Shikarawals, House Boat owners and all others who are directly or indirectly part of tourism. 

 

"We are achieved a good progress in vaccination. So far we have vaccinated more than 10 thousand persons, who are part of tourism," he told KNS.

 

He thanked LG administration for taking up vaccination of people associated with tourism on priority, Sarmad Hafeez said. 

 

"The vaccination drive is underway in a fast track mode. We are also conducting interacting event's related to covid19 protocol to create an environment, where traveler's would feel safe to visit tourist destinations,"he added. 

 

The safety of tourism people is our first and prime most concern, he said. " To improve the facilities at tourism destinations is another concern that we are working over.It includes cleanliness drives, inspection of services just to give a good experience to visitors,"he added. 

 

In view of world environment day, we are conducting series of events at many tourist destinations, including at Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg. 

 

These events are being held to create an awareness to explore tourism destinations along with awareness to save environment, he said. 

 

Secretary Tourism said that his Department is working closely with administration for the revival of tourism in Kashmir. 

 

"As soon as the situation improves, the activities will be accelerated to generate a confidence among travelers to travellers," he told KNS.

 

He also said Tourism Department is consulting health experts about the covid protocols, for the safety of the people and travelers, he added. 

"Our concern is not only to ensure the safety of tourists but also ensure the safety of our own people,"he added. (KNS)
