Tanvir Sadiq Slams Delay in Rajya Sabha Polls, Flags Pending By-elections in Budgam and Nagrota

Srinagar, May 26 (KNS): Senior National Conference leader and party spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq has strongly criticized the delay in holding elections for the Rajya Sabha seats from Jammu & Kashmir, calling on the Election Commission of India (ECI) to act promptly and uphold democratic principles.

“Over six to seven months have passed, yet the Rajya Sabha elections for Jammu & Kashmir have not been conducted. The people of the region deserve representation in Parliament, and the Election Commission must take cognizance of this delay,” Sadiq said while speaking to reporters according to KNS correspondent.

He also raised concern over the pending by-elections in Budgam and Nagrota, questioning the selective pace of the electoral process. “By-elections have been conducted elsewhere in the country. Why are they still pending in Jammu & Kashmir?Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel” he asked.

Addressing recent political speculation, Sadiq clarified that the National Conference remains united and strong at its core. “No one from the party’s Working Committee has left. It is the highest decision-making body in the party and continues to lead with clarity on all issues,” he said.

He reiterated the party’s firm stance on key constitutional matters. “Our position on statehood, special status, and constitutional rights remains unchanged. We are committed to the people’s aspirations,” Sadiq asserted.

Praising the leadership of NC Vice-President Omar Abdullah, he noted that Omar has been actively engaging with people across the Valley. “Whether it’s Gulmarg or Pahalgam, Omar Sahab has remained accessible and focused on public issues,” he said. (KNS)
