TANGMARG, Feb 04 (KNS) — The administration of Tangmarg Tehsil in north Kashmir's Baramulla district launched a week-long public verification drive for digitised land records on Wednesday, covering over 40 villages.

The initiative aims to provide on-the-spot grievance redressal, allowing landholders to physically verify their Jamabandi records and raise any discrepancies directly with revenue officials in their own villages.

According to an official notice issued under the supervision of Tehsildar Tangmarg, Syed Eyad Qadri, accessed by news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), the designated Patwari for each village has been directed to remain present at scheduled venues—primarily government schools—with the relevant digitised records from February 4 to 10.

A key feature of the drive is the maintenance of a formal "Grievance Register" at each location to record objections or queries from citizens regarding their land holdings.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

"All landholders and other interested persons from the concerned villages are invited to attend the programme to verify their land records," the notice stated. It added that any discrepancies or grievances could be raised on the spot for necessary action as per rules.

The drive commenced in villages including Druroo, Sulinda, and Batoo. It will subsequently cover areas such as Khaipora, Chandil, and Gulmarg, concluding in Wanigam and Chandilora on February 10.

To ensure wide participation, the notice has been circulated to the Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Gulmarg, and relevant Block Development Officers. They have been asked to make necessary arrangements and ensure publicity.

Traditional village heads, Lumberdars, and Chowkidars have also been tasked with informing every household about the schedule, according to the order. (KNS)
