Tangdhar Valley Celebrates 'KISAN DIWAS'

Tangdar December 24 (KNS): 'Kisan Drwas' or 'National Farmer's Day' is celebrated every year on 23° December all across the country to commemorate the birth anniversary of Ex-PM Chaudhary Charan Singh, a great leader for the farmers & 5th Prime Minister of the country Kisan Diwas is an acknowledgement of his vision of a strong and independent Indian farmer, the backbone of Indian economy. On this day, army in Tangdhar Valley took initiative to organize an Agricultural workshop cum seminar to mark the importance of •Kishan Diwas' in the Valley and to enhance the knowledge of farmers about the latest policies introduced by the government on agricultural aspects.
According to KNS Correspondent, Approximately 110-120 farmers from the region attended the seminar. Agriculture Extension Officer. Mr. Bilal Ahmad Wani, interacted with the farmers to share various schemes of agriculture and encouraged farmers to avail the benefits of farmer centric schemes like 'PM Kisan Samrnan Nidhi' and *Kisan Credit Card'. He also spoke on the recently introduced farming acts namely The Farmer's Trade and Commerce Act, 2020', 'The Farmers Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act. 2020' and provision of the recently introduced 'Agriculture Infrastructure Fund'
Mr Khalid Bhadana shared his experiences on 'red rice' and 'walnut farming with the farmers.
On behalf of Indian Army, an Army Supply Corps officer briefed the farmers on the opportunities of selling their farm products to Army through contractors/vendors Mr Shahid Maqbool. Branch Manager SBI Tangdhar explained about the facilities and loan schemes available to the farmers through various banking schemes
Farmers were also encouraged to form 'Farmer Producer Organization (FPOs)' to exploit the concept power of co-operative society which will enable them to draw bargaining power in selling agriculture produce.
Farming is one of the major livelihoods of our region and Army has taken a great step in organizing this event to benefit all farmers of the region,' said Mohd Rafiq Sheikh, Sarpanch Tangdhar.

 

Also an Inter Village Volleyball Tournament was organised from 16-23 December 2020 at Government Boy's Middle School Lountha by Indian Army to promote sports and games in the Valley. (KNS)
